SID - Sudden Ionospherics Disturbances

Metoda měření spočívá v detekci vybraného zdroje radiosignálu (v našem případě vysílače telemetrické vojenské soustavy a časového signálu pro severní Evropu, nacházejícím se poblíž islandského Gridavíku). Příjem takovéhoto dlouhovlnného signálu je ovlivněn řadou  faktorů, mezi něž patří odezva  jednotlivých vrstev zemské ionosféry na rentgenové záření  z vesmíru, pro nás pak  hlavně zs Slunce. Metoda je jinou modifikací registrací tzv. SEA (viz odkaz) a jde o  jednou z nepřímých metod zjišťování energetických jevů na Slunci.
